"Deciding on the right builder can be one of life's big decisions, particularly if the building project is likely to set you back a few thousand pound.

I had been told so many stories from friends and family about bad experiences with shoddy building work, coupled with the fact that I am a real perfectionist and any work I had paid for in the past had always fallen short of my expectations - I almost decided not to embark on having an extension built.

My wife and I had 'interviewed' about four separate builders prior to meeting Lee. The prices varied almost without any logical explanation, the time proposed to complete the build varied from around a month to a maximum timescale of 14 weeks, again depending on the builder - this was only a one room single storey extension. By the time we contacted Lee, we were more confused and uncertain than ever.

Lee started to ask questions regarding our expectations and requirements for the new build. He then asked more questions and started to provide options. In fact by the time Lee provided a quote, we had held at least three meetings, discussed various detail that none of the other builders had even vaguely touched upon and identified small discrepancies in the architects plans. Lee focuses on the detail which is essential to ensure there is a clear understanding between customer and provider, before any work takes place.

Needless to say, when we made our decision to employ Lee and his workers we were confident he would deliver the build in the 4 - 6 weeks he had estimated.

Each stage of the build was carried out speedily, effectively, conscientiously and professionally. The individuals working for Lee were all incredibly friendly and engaging, allowing me to ask questions and discuss how certain aspects would look upon completion and where necessary allowing me to make those small but sometimes significant tweaks to the original plans. Care was taken by all to construct an extension that has lived up and beyond my high expectations and hopes. Lee never disappeared from the project. Even though he was busy managing other work elsewhere, he carried out very regular site visits, daily in the early stages, sometime working on site to keep everything on schedule, he was always contactable to deal with any questions or minor hiccups and he called at the end of every day while work was ongoing to ensure that I was happy with the standard of work.

The builders worked long days including working on a number of Saturdays.

I can honestly say that the whole experience of having the extension built has been incredibly enjoyable and not the negative and stressful experience I was warned by several who had their own tales of woe by choosing the wrong builders.
